Jim Hruska

Jim started as the Chief Financial Officer at Fund Raising Strategies in March 2022. Prior to joining Fund Raising Strategies, Jim served in the Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer for 29 years. During his naval career he served on eight different ships with commanding USS OGDEN (LPD 5) as the pinnacle of his at sea assignments. Ashore, he completed four financial management tours within the Pentagon and also served as the Senior Naval Advisor to the Iraqi Government where he mentored and trained senior Iraqi naval leaders on strategic planning, financial management, workforce development and acquisition strategy. His most challenging shore assignment was as Commander, Military Sealift Command Far East (MSCFE). In this assignment he oversaw the Department of Defense’s maritime logistics in the western Pacific and Indian Ocean while directing over 40 logistical ships and eight subordinate commands. Jim retired from the Navy in 2016 with the rank of Captain.
After retiring from the Navy, Jim worked for the National Weather Service as a Portfolio Manager/Budget Director where he was responsible for the budget formulation and execution which supported all weather forecast operations, two thirds of the NWS’ workforce and half of the NWS’ infrastructure.
Jim earned a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Boston University, Masters in Public Administration from Shippensburg University and a Master’s degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the United States Naval War College.
Jim and his wife, Kelly, reside in Annandale, Virginia. They have one daughter, Emily, who is a student at Saint Joseph’s University.
