Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Operations to lead our production, creative and digital teams, ensuring seamless execution of direct mail and digital fundraising campaigns. Reporting and partnering directly with the President, the Director of Operations will help oversee a team of Copywriters, Digital Fundraising Managers, and Production Coordinators. The Director of Operations will be charged with driving operational excellence, fostering collaboration, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. The candidate must be a visionary leader, have strong communication and leadership skills as well as integrity and a team-minded, hands-on work ethic.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor a team of 25, fostering a culture of accountability, creativity, and collaboration.
  • Operational Oversight: Oversee all aspects of campaign production, including planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and quality control.
  • Process Optimization: Develop and implement efficient workflows to streamline operations, reduce costs, and improve turnaround times.
  • Project Management: Ensure all fundraising campaigns are executed flawlessly, meeting client expectations and deadlines.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the President and other departments (e.g., Client Services, Data Analytics) to align operations with company goals.
  • Budget Management: Monitor and manage operational budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
  • Performance Metrics: Establish and track KPIs to measure team performance, campaign success, and operational efficiency.
  • Vendor Relations: Collaborate with ECG’s Manager of Vendor Relations to build new relationships and strengthen relationships with external vendors, such as printers and mailing houses, to ensure quality and timely delivery.
  • Strategic Input: Provide insights and recommendations to the President & CEO on operational strategies, team growth, and industry trends.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of operations management experience, preferably in direct mail, fundraising, or a related industry.
  • Leadership: Proven track record of successfully leading and motivating diverse teams, including creative and production staff.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of direct mail and digital fundraising processes, including production, copywriting, and mailing logistics.
  • Project Management: Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with experience overseeing complex, multi-stage projects.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with ECG executives, department heads, staff and vendors.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to anticipate challenges, develop solutions, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Comfortable learning proprietary custom internal software and systems.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications a plus.

Part-Time Fulfillment Coordinator - As a Fulfillment Coordinator, you will play a vital role in ensuring that donors receive accurate and timely thank you letters and gift item packages. You will work closely with vendors, and our creative teams to support multiple clients. This is a hands-on, on-site role requiring organizational excellence, an eye for detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Northern Virginia direct response fundraising agency with 50+ years of service seeks an experienced, talented and committed Production Coordinator to serve conservative advocacy clients and candidates as well as historical museums, animal welfare, and other non-profit clients.

Production Coordinators, working closely with copywriters, are in charge of bidding out jobs for the clients that are assigned to them, selecting the best vendor and entering those costs into a proprietary software program. They take a draft of an appeal and make it art ready for the selected printer. Meeting deadlines and mail dates as well as the ability to multitask is a must. Experience with direct mail, printers, mailers, list brokers and computer service bureaus is required. Software skills must include Word and Quark or InDesign, and knowledge of Photoshop would be greatly helpful in this position.
